Mark Andrew Brown appeared before Cowra Local Court on Wednesday, February 3 on charges of driving while under the influence of cannabis and methamphetamines.

Brown was stopped on Redfern street and despite returning a negative reading to alcohol produced a positive detection to both the illicit drugs after being subject to an oral fluid test.

In relation to taking the drugs Brown stated he had a “couple of cones last night, I haven’t had any amphetamines.”

His solicitor Ms Arden argued a loss of licence would put more pressure on her client’s family running their farm and told the court he is looking for more local work.

“It’s such a common thing these days it’s out of control,” Magistrate Peter Dare replied in relation to the offence.

He was convicted and fined $200 and suspended from driving for three months.
