Bridge work halts traffic

GLEN INNES Severn Council Mayor Colin Price has asked motorists to be mindful of changed traffic conditions as maintenance work on the bridge over Beardy Waters, about 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes on the New England Highway, takes place over the next four weeks.

Mr Price said that work will be carried out from this week and take four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

“One lane will remain open and temporary traffic lights will alternate traffic during daytime work from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday for the safety of workers and motorists,” he said.

“Motorists may experience delays of up to 10 mins and should plan additional travel time for their journeys.

“Both lanes will be open to traffic at night with a reduced 60km/h speed limit approaching the bridge.”

Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said the $60,000 bridge deck improvement work was funded by the NSW Government to ensure the bridge remained safe and accessible for road users.

“I thank motorists for their patience while this essential work is carried out,” he said.
