Don’t be deceived by rhetoric

Most adults understand the value of a politician’s promise. However, should the promised plebiscite on same-sex marriage eventuate, people should also understand there will be a massive media onslaught to condition the public to vote ‘yes’.

This has already begun, and will intensify. There will be many ‘phantom’ opinion polls (like the one from Rodney Croome, Adv. Feb 1), which are designed to indicate overwhelming support for this cause . . . under the guise of ‘equality’ . . . but don’t be deceived by the rhetoric.

Furthermore, to conduct a plebiscite in conjunction with a federal election is so blatantly logical, only our politicians have the capacity to mess it up by (costly) separating the two.

Those advocating ‘love’ as the basis for change should note: true love is lifelong, and not dependent on sex for survival.

Plebiscite or not, same sex will occur as it always has done – by a minority, by whatever name . . . but that ain’t marriage.
