Spotlight shone on festival

THE first public forum to put the spotlight on how the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival went will be held this Thursday.

The feedback forum is open to the public and Tamworth mayor Col Murray has invited locals to attend.

The Thursday session from 6pm to 8pm in the Passchendaele Room of the Tamworth Town Hall will examine the issues that need to be addressed for the next

January hoedown. Cr Murray wants to hear from a wide section of the local community about what went well and what could be improved for the 2017 festival.

He said the meeting provides an opportunity for local retailers, festival stakeholders and individuals to share their thoughts, experiences and suggestions.

The forum will hearfrom the mayor as well asDestination Tamworth director John Sommerlad andfestival manager Barry Harley, who will provide an overview of the 2016 event.

Following the briefing, the meeting will be open for anyone to voice their feedback and ask questions.

Festival Manager Barry Harley said it was important to get public feedback when planning for the next event.

“The 2016 festival was deemed one of the mostfamily-friendly, positive and rewarding in many years by a majority of stakeholders including venues, retailers and artists,” Mr Harley said.

“This is the opportunity for the broader community to provide feedback, both positive and constructive, that can be included in the planning process for future festivals.

“The festival is the largest of its kind in the southernhemisphere and impacts in some way on every resident of the entire Tamworth region.

“The feedback that we can get from a meeting of this kind is priceless and allows us to continually improve the festival experience for everyone involved.”
